Метафорические репрезентации концепта 'seed'

Abstract

This paper investigates metaphorical representations of the concept 'seed'. In the English language, there are lot of metaphors with the lexeme 'seed'. Most of the metaphorical expressions have to do with the man and his/her environment. In case of some idioms it’s difficult to trace the etymology. Quantity and quality of seeds and the growth process of seeds make possible the formation of new metaphors.
