Abstract


The article is dedicated to the widespread use of transformed proverbs in newspaper headlines, the effect of their occasional actualization on the basis of substitution and infringement of their usual compatibility. The principle role played by such proverbs is to attract the readers’ attention to a particular issue or problem and to attach a special (often ironic) summation to the author’s message or the point of view.
