Вокалические особенности украинского произносительного акцента в англоязычном авиационном радиотелефонном дискурсе

Abstract

A wide use of English as a lingua franca has caused the problem of pronunciation accents in international communication. This paper presents an analysis of deviations from the Standard English vowel pronunciation in the speech of Ukrainian air traffic controllers and pilots. Through examining the data obtained from the expert evaluators’ analysis of experimental speech samples, the paper defines phonemic and phonetic features of English vowel pronunciation in the speech of the Ukrainians. It also provides groups of phonemic and phonetic deviations and their descriptions.
